Vintage 1979 Gibson Electric Guitars
Some say the quality of Gibson declined in the 1970s and 1980s, but some of the models from this year are still gorgeous and sound beautiful because the original quality was still superior to other companies of the time. A 1979 vintage Gibson electric guitar is also a piece of art with character and history. They are quiet, and yet, really sing! You can find original owner guitars, and prices from the hundreds into the thousands of dollars. Examine the beautiful models on EBay in yellow, ebony, tobacco burst, and other interesting colors.
One of the rarest and most highly coveted guitar Gibson came out with in 1979 was the Citation. The 1979 Citation was a reissue of a previously discontinued that was brought back by popular demand. The Citation sported fancy inlays, a 17' full depth body and the kind of fine handmade carving that has collectors willing to pay tens of thousands of dollar for them. For collectors not willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a vintage guitar there are plenty of other options such as the rare but not outrageously priced Howard Roberts Fusion guitar, RD Artist models or the slightly easier to come by classic Les Paul models. Gibson guitars were made for allowing musicians to express themselves artistically, but come of these beautiful pieces are real works of art themselves.
