Vintage 1969 Gibson Electric Guitars

Vintage 1969 Gibson Guitars

The Gibson Firebird remained popular from its inception in 1963 even though the reverse body shape returned to non-reversed in mid 1965. However, this year the original Firebird-type pickups were discontinued, and the sparkling burgundy finish was no longer available. Nevertheless, unique colors were available such as cardinal red, Pelham blue, frost blue, polar white, sunburst. Still, not a lot of these Firebirds were made so they are a rare find. Vintage prices on 1969 Gibson electric guitars since 2000 have increased from 9%-11%. To find the color and model you want, browse EBay.

Models such as the Johnny Smith archtop and the classic Les Paul guitars never lose their appeal with guitar connoisseurs. The well designed Johnny Smith archtop is one of the most in demand vintage archtops today. The popularity of 1969 Gibson guitars have driven the prices up very high on certain models, but it’s still possible to get great deals by shopping online. While 1969 may have been the end of a decade it certainly wasn’t the end of a series of music revolutions that would last well into the 1970’s. An eclectic blend of music was filling the Billboard charts as well as a variety of live performance stages. Naturally Gibson guitars were there to help audiences get their groove on.
