Vintage 1960 Gibson Electric Guitars

In 1960 a slim-tapered neck profile with a rounded profile was added to the Standard flame maple top, sunburst finish and PAF (Patent Applied For) pickups. This change gave a very different feel to this classic electric. Nevertheless, the adjustments did not save the Standard and after 1960, the single cutaway was replaced by the thin bodied, double cutaway SG.

In 1965 guitar legend Eric Clapton bought a Cherry Sunburst 1960 Gibson Les Paul. His performances and techniques he introduced to the world with that guitar helped change music history. Not bad for an aspiring musician playing a second hand guitar.
