Vintage 1953 Gibson Electric Guitars

Vintage 1953 Gibson Guitars

In 1953 a two-pickup Gibson electric guitar was introduced. The ES-175 and ES-175D could be ordered in either sunburst or natural finish. The bodies are chambered for weight relief and the carefully carved out areas contribute to more resonant guitars. Gibson does its chambering before the maple top is put on so the beautiful, solid guitar look is not changed.

Les Paul pointed out the flaws in his named 1952 guitar including the angle of the neck and the strings wrapping under the bar instead of over. These problems were corrected, but still, there were limitations relating to the intonation. Check out EBay for vintage 1953 Goldtop Gibson Electric guitars, inexpensive reproductions, and custom reissues. You'll see two main finishesgold-colored top with a natural brown back or a few with an all-gold finish. You could own this vintage guitar beauty.
