Vintage 1952 Gibson Electric Guitars

Vintage 1952 Gibson Guitars

Gibson, like most other manufacturers at the time, disliked the idea of a solid-body guitar. Nevertheless, famous guitarist Les Paul was one of the pioneers of the solid body technology, although, ironically, the guitar bearing his name was made with little input from him. The Les Paul was released in 1952. The tone and weight were largely due to the heavy woods used—mahogany and maple. The 1952 Les Paul guitars were never issued serial numbers and the design scheme of some of the early models varied.

Les Paul wanted two colored used on these vintage guitars that would forever bear his name: gold and black. He got the gold part in1952. The 1952 and early 1953 Goldtop models are not very playable as a professional instrument, but they do have tremendous collector value. Watch EBay for authentic 1952 Gibson electric guitars, reproductions, and reissues. Just learning how to play? Take Lessons using one of these baby's.
